These spaniels are 1930-1940s era, signed, Frankart, brass (perhaps over white metal) bookends in excellent condition. These could be ideal for the Collector and Bookend Enthusiast. Take a look at the actual photos below to see what is being offered. Each piece rests at 6" Tall, 5" Long, and 2" Deep and weighs 1 ½ lbs, 3 lbs for the pair. Each pleasantly plump pooch stands on an equally fine smooth onyx base.You will find these both to be splendid pieces with not a flaw to mention. These canines are made of a grey metal and possess a flawless and perfectly intact gilded brass finish that still shines radiantly after all these years. After a dispute with his partners, he left the company in 1930, and established Quoizel Metal Art Company. In 1924, he established the company Frankart Inc. They convey both fire and control and exude ruggedness and power despite their small, compact size. Arthur Frankenberg began designing and producing bookends in New York City in 1921. They are quite heavy- most likely hand-painted bronze. ![]() These are very nice Art Deco bookends made by the famous foundry started by HB Hirsch in New York in 1907, and these were made by JB Hirsch in the early 1930s in typical art deco style. These lovely dogs have been nicknamed "Diehards" because of their determination and "heads up, tails up" attitude. Graceful nymphs cavort on lily pads complete with frogs.These new old stock bookends were cast by Sarsaparilla in the 1970s from the original 1920s Frankart mold. Vintage 1930s JB Hirsch Painted Metal Sculpture Bookends of Chinese Man Woman. and was produced by Quoizel, an offspring company lead by Frankart's once chief designer.This set of bookends features a pair of darling Terriers, dogs that are known for being quick, feisty, and all around playful. The maker of the set is unlisted in the reference book, but the design seen is that of Frankart Inc. T, the pieces are described as rare and are valued accordingly.
